Strong saltwater reels with adjustable drag and capacity to hold 150- 200 yards of 20 lbs. test backing.

Lines:

7wt. and 8wt. bonefish line with a tropic taper for bonefish and 9 or 10wt. tropic taper for tarpon

Leaders and Tippets:

8, 12, and 16 lbs. fluorocarbon tapered leaders and some 30 lbs wire and 30-50 lbs flouro for barracuda and tarpon

Flies:

Some essential “must-have” flies for bonefish include the Gotcha (Pearl), Bunny Hair Gotcha (Pearl/Tan), Veverka’s Mantis Shrimp (Tan), Puglisi’s Spawning Shrimp (Olive, Tan, White), Miehieve’s Flats Fly, Kwabbit, Mink Shrimp, and Spawning Mantis. For predator species, such as barracuda, needlefish imitations, baitfish imitations, and large poppers in attention-grabbing colours are recommended.
