The combination of a luxury camp and accommodation, gourmet cuisine, fantastic staff and guides, breathtaking river views of the mighty Zambezi, Big 5 African safari experience and landing a trophy tigerfish makes this a truly unique experience.
The main lodge area provides a comfortable open-plan dining and seating area along with a bar and swimming pool. This is the perfect place to enjoy some time relaxing during fishing sessions or after a day out on the water.
The camp offers 7 luxury suites accommodating 14 guests. Spacious, private verandas with a private plunge pool and beautiful views of the Zambezi River.
Kigelia House has two en-suite bedrooms, offering privacy and comfort. The open-plan living area with a private deck and pool, creates a perfect space for relaxation and enjoyment.
To enhance your stay, each tent is accompanied by a personal Muchinda (butler) who is dedicated to catering to your every need. With a 24-hour power supply and abundant hot and cold treated water, your comfort is ensured throughout your stay.
Fly into either Livingstone or Lusaka in Zambia. From there you will transfer by small charter plane to Jeki Airstrip in the Lower Zambezi National Park. A road transfer through prime safari country will get you to the lodge.
Even the most experienced anglers aren’t quite prepared for how hard a tigerfish hits a fly. The adrenaline surge of the take, setting the hook hard, and acrobatic leaps all add to their legendary reputation. Doing this in a world-renowned Big 5 safari area adds immense value to the experience! Top of Form
You will head out at sunrise and generally fish 2 sessions a day. Relax in the pool during the heat of the day and fish an afternoon session followed by a night drive to find nocturnal wildlife.
The lodge caters for conventional tackle anglers too which helps when 2 anglers are sharing a boat
You can set your own programme with a range of non-fishing activities from canoeing, guided walks, game drives and photography
When it comes to fly fishing for tiger fish on the Zambezi River, having the right equipment is essential for a successful and enjoyable angling experience.
8 or 9wt 9 ft rods would be sufficient to provide the necessary power to cast larger flies and handle these ferocious fish. A reliable and smooth drag on your reel with sufficient backing to control the first powerful runs. It is important that your fly lines can handle the high temperatures of the Zambezi Valley. A variety of sinking lines would be the norm but well worth taking a tropical floating line too. Having a spare fly line is important as you are often casting toward submerged structure.
20 lb leader material and steel leader wire essential.
Flies are a variety of streamer patterns that imitate baitfish, such as Clouser Minnows and Deceivers. Tigers will take flippers or poppers on the surface on a floating line.
A full list of essentials will be provided before your trip.
